The World PMV Games 2022 competition was announced on /r/PornMusicVids by sabermix on January 20, 2022.[4]

A trailer was produced by PixelJail and skerrako.[4]
Rules
The following rules were specified:[4]
- The runtime of the entries should not exceed six minutes.
- "World PMV Games 2022" had to appear in the video.
- Entries should follow a theme: "Battle!" Choose 2 Porn objects (Studio's\Pornstars\Sex Actions) and pit them against each other in some way.
- Each person was allowed one entry, it had to be original to the competition, and could not be a remix of another edit.
- Entries had to be published or submitted to the organizers between May 6th and May 13th.
Scoring
The scoring for the competition was done by eight judges and a public poll. Each judge was given a detailed scorecard to rate and rank all entries. The public vote was conducted through strawpoll.com and allowed voters to choose their three favorite entries.
